Several media outlets are reporting that Canon will be announcing their latest cinema camera offering on September 9th.  The rumored specs (obtained from Canon Rumors) would seem to place this camera squarely in competition with the Sony FX3:

Basic Specifications (Unconfirmed)

• 32MP Sensor
• 6K Recording
• 4K 120P With a Crop
• Triple Base ISO
• Dual SD Card Slots
• Open Gate Recording
• Claimed 15+ Stops Dynamic Range
• C-Log 2, C-Log 3

Sony essentially invented this market and has remained unchallenged- it will be nice see Canon offer a capable alternative.  My Canon R5 Mark II handles the video tasks I give it, but I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

Fingers crossed Canon also trots out the much rumored Canon R6 Mark III this week.
