Today my Rottweiler Zeus Sohn Von Holbrook Von Krafthaus turns 1 year of age. Oh how quickly it goes by!
We got Zeus at the end of July last year, at 12 weeks of age – a little over a month after the devastating loss of our Rottweiler Caesar. I’ll never forget that first evening when he came to visit me for the first time – he picked me as much as I picked him. Truly love at first sight. Here are some of the first photos I took of him:
Shortly after receiving Zeus, we decided to start showing him in dog shows – something we’d never done before. In his very first show (the UKC Mason Dixon Conformation Show), he came in first place in the Male Rottweiler Puppy Division:
From there we took him him the RKNA Breed Show and Sieger Show in Nashville, TN.
Zeus earned a bronze medal for being the third place winner in the 4-6 Month Male Puppy division:
From there, we returned to regional competition with the IABCA 2014 Buckeye State Sieger Show in January of this year.
Competing in the Junior Puppy Division, Zeus went “SG1” in all four competitions at the event, earning him both his National and International Championship titles.
Our next show was the Association of Indepentdent Rottweiler Klubs Nationals in Charlotte, NC. This show was great experience for us even though Zeus did not place.
Finally, our most recent competition as of this writing, and perhaps one of Zeus’s most impressive wins to date was placing 2nd in the Male 9-12 month puppy class of the American Rottweiler Club Nationals Sieger Show just this past weekend. This was his last competition in the puppy classes, and he finished out this phase of development and competition strong!
In addition to his show achievements, I’ve done a great deal of obedience training with Zeus, and he’s earned both his AKC STAR Puppy award, and his Canine Good Citizenship Certification (CGC):
Together, Zeus and I have achieved a great deal in his first year – I’m a pretty proud poppa. But more importantly, Zeus and I have forged an incredible bond – the kind of bond I never thought I’d get the chance to have after the untimely death of my beloved Caesar last year. Happy birthday my friend – may there be many, many more together!
