Review Of The Peak Design Form Rope Camera Neck Strap

by | Oct 26, 2025 | Featured

I’ve had a tough time finding a good neck strap for my Fujifilm X100VI.  The one I initially purchased (which I got well before the camera due to how long it took my order to be fulfilled) was a super comfortable “rope” neck strap – soft and extremely comfortable.  But the connectors kept failing and the camera actually dropped to the ground a few times (tough little camera).  So I begrudgingly switched over to the Peak Design system.  When I made the switch earlier this year, the only kind of strap Peak Design made that met my needs was their Slide Lite Camera Strap – it’s nice because it’s height adjustable, but not particularly comfortable in my option.  It’s a flat strap of ridged nylon laying across the back of your neck.  I assumed I’d come across something at some point that I liked better – but at least my camera would stop dropping to the ground.

Fast forward to an annual sales event that was happening at the Cincinnati location of Dodd Camera – one of the last remaining camera chains still in operation in Ohio.  I’d heard from a friend that it was worth the 40 minute drive down from Dayton, so I went:

The Cincinnati Dodd Camera store font. NOT my minivan…

Several manufacturers sent representatives to support the sales event, and Peak Design was there.  When I walked by their table I glanced over…and stopped in my tracks.  There it was!  A rope-style camera neck strap which had the Peak Design anchor system attached at both ends.  I spoke to the sales rep about it and he said it was a brand new release – the Form Rope Neck Strap:

In fact, the store only had one size in stock – the “Neck” size.  Outside of the wrist strap size, the Neck size is the shortest version they sell:

I’m actually about Brent’s size (above) so I gave it a try – I’m glad I did because it’s pretty perfect for my needs.  I don’t like when a camera strap is too long because the camera ends up flopping around and banging into things.  A longer strap also means there’s more of it to cram into tight spaces in a camera bag.  Here’s what it looks like on my camera:

I’m thrilled with the purchase – it’s considerably more comfortable against the skin on the back of my neck.  Don’t get me wrong – Peak Design = Peak Price.  Most versions of the Form Rope Strap cost $49.00 – the shorter Neck size costs just $44.95.  That’s a lot for a piece rope.  But worth it for all day comfort when I’m vacationing or otherwise traveling.  Along with the release of the Form Rope straps, Peak Design also released some Form Leather straps for about eighty bucks – nor horrible I suppose if you like the look and feel of a leather strap.    Check ’em out.
