Coming off of a very successful weekend at the Smokey Mountain Working Rottweiler Klub’s (SMWRK) Sieger show in Caryville, TN where Zeus earned his SE title, we attended the Central Ontario Rottweiler Klub’s (CORK) Sieger show the following weekend (June 6th and 7th).  This would be Zeus’s first time competing in another country – international competition!  Fortunately, Welland Ontario is a fairly short drive from Dayton, Ohio (about 7 hours) and only about 30 minutes from the US border in Buffalo, NY.  The CORK show has the added attraction of being relatively close to Niagara Falls so we decided to go up a day early and do some sight seeing.

My Rottweiler Zeus wouldn’t show until Sunday in the Open Adult Male class, but we decided to swing by the show on Saturday to get the lay of the land.  We ended up staying nearly the entire day and had much fun.  Here’s a couple of photos of the show area and the ring – the show was held at the Niagara Fairgrounds which is conveniently located right next to the host hotels.

Brenda Burggraf is the President of CORK and this was the club’s 4th time having the show – they do a fantastic job (it was a sold out show with 110 entries, plus 3 SE’s and 2 ZTP’s that weekend).  The show grounds itself was nothing extravagant, but the parking was convenient as was bathroom access, and there was plenty of room to walk dogs as needed.   This year, CORK brought in ADRK judge Claudia Wolf-Meixner, daughter of the famous Xaver Meixner.  It is my understand that this was Claudia Wolf-Meixner’s first time judging in North America – given the tremendous contribution to the Rottweiler breed both she and her father have made, it was both a privilege and honor to show to her at CORK.

We helped Troy Mullins show his 12-18 month female Diomedes vom Mullins Haus.  That little cutie took V3 in a class of 20 other females!

We saw plenty of other friends too at CORK – like Katerina Olifiruk whose dog Urso went V3 in his class:

After the show on Saturday, my wife and I drove about 20 minutes to Niagara Falls and did a little sight seeing – I hadn’t been to the falls in about 40 years!

After some sight seeing, we went to the judges dinner which was very nice.

Sunday morning the Open Adult Males were first up.  I think we did a nice job presenting and running Zeus – thanks to Troy Mullins for helping!:

Out of the 10 dogs registered in the class, Zeus took 4th place, and earned a V rating (V4):

We were obviously hoping for a better placement, but we’re thrilled with the V rating from Claudia Wolf-Meixner.

We also helped Troy Mullins show his Champion Class male, Etto Big Warrior:

Etto ended up going V2 in an extremely competitive class.

From our perspective, the CORK show was a huge success.  The club is very professionally run – we even walked away with our signed critique before the show ended which almost unheard of at Sieger show.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see this club host an RKNA Klub Sieger in the near future – thanks for a wonderful weekend CORK!  We’ll be back!
