Three factors converged to motivate me to do some photography in downtown Dayton.  The weather was nice, I had a new lens I needed more practice with, and I’ve got a trip to Miami planned in a bit over a week, so I just need to dust off the photography cob webs before heading south.  Street photography isn’t something I consider a strength, but I have done some here and there.  You’ll even find some other articles with photography from downtown Dayton here on ThruMyLens.  I started out in the Oregon District:

Outside of the once or twice a year visit to some favorite restaurants (Salar) in the Oregon District, I don’t get out this way much.  It’s a big bar scene for younger folks on the weekend.  My next stop was the 2nd Street Market.  It’s been several years since I visited:

The photo taking opportunities were good but…wow…I can see why I don’t spend a lot of time here.  Most eclectic dining options (some with international appeal)..a few tricket vendors…not much else.  I grabbed a jalapeño pretzel (which was darn good), some flowers for my wife, and I took off.

I grabbed a few photos on Main Street while I was so close:

It was good practice with the new Voigtlander 50mm F1.0 and a good primer for my trip to Miami.
