As I write this article, today is the first day of Spring – so the 2026 photography season is upon us. I’m making a few changes to the gear I’ll be bringing with me, so I decided to record a video to explain what I’ll be bringing with me this Summer and why. Here’s a list of all the gear that’s discussed in the video
- The Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW – I’ve been using this for over 20 year and you won’t find it new in stores. But jump on eBay and you’ll find them either lightly used or with the tags still on them for ~$35.00.
- Ulanzi Falcam F38 Backpack Strap Clip – I’ve been using these for about two or three years now and have them on every bag or backpack I use.
- Black Rapid Single Camera Strap – Another staple that I’ve relied on for over 20 years. It’s the best way to carry a full-size interchangeable lens camera body.
- ScottEVest LightEST – Light enough to be used in the hottest summer months, these travel vests make fantastic vests for photographers to carry extra gear and accessories that you may not want to put in your bag, or prefer to keep them in an easy access location.
- K&F CONCEPT Nano-X VND/CPL – these combination variable ND/circular polarizer filters are must have accessories for Summer car photography.
- PolarPro CineFlow filters – recently reviewed. I’ve tested these and believe I’ll be able to get some really interesting photos at Summer car meets with these filters.
- DJI Osmo Pocket 3 – for vlog content and B-roll.
- GoPro – I plan to chest mount a GoPro and get some behind-the-scenes footage at some of the photography events I attend.
- Benro Cyanbird – one of two tripods I’ll likely bring with me most of the summer (the other I discuss in the video below). About the lightest full-size tripod out there.
- Microfiber cloths – an indispensable accessory for photographers. More so if you (like me) wear glasses. Use good ones like the product I’ve linked on Amazon, not the typical crap accessories that a lot of camera accessory makes ship with their products.
- Small screwdriver for tightening quick release plates. If you attach your camera to straps or your bag via quick release plate, a small tool like this is a necessity to avoid disaster. Ask me how I know…
