On April 19th the Buckeye Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America hosted a party called “Wing Into Spring.”  April 19th just happens to be my birthday, so I thought it was rather gracious of them to throw me a party…. instead, I was the designated photographer for the event.  It’s role in which I have often volunteered as it is my way of giving back to the club.

The event was held at the Air Force Museum which created the opportunity for the club members to have a photograph taken of their vehicle sitting in front of the F-15 which is in front of the museum.  Great backdrop For a car photo, but unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us.  The sky was pretty darn ugly, so I had to do some sky replacements to add a little interest and trauma to the photos.  Here’s a few examples of what I got – all were taken with my R5 Mark II and the RF 70-200 f2.8 at f10.  This lens was used to create some compression with the vehicle in the foreground and the plane in the background:

A few members brought their 911s for photos:

I also took some pictures of the dinner party. We had inside the museum.  For these photos, I can use my Canon R5 Mark II with the RF 24-70 f2.8.  If you’ve ever been inside the hangers of the Air Force Museum, you know just how dark it is even with their lighting soil also brought along my Westcott  FJ80 II  flash.   The setup worked quite well for the people pictures that I took:

I set up the camera and handed it to my buddy, who got a nice shot at me with it:

Overall, it was a great event.  I wish the weather would’ve been a little nicer for the outside pictures, but we do live in Ohio after all.  Great cars. Great fellowship. And a great opportunity to take some photos.
